three-earn-the-chancellor Three students earned ECSU's top academic awards and received certificates at the annual Honors Convocation on April 23 in the Moore Hall auditorium. The Chancellor's Distinguished Emblem Award is reserved for three seniors who maintain a minimum 3.75 grade point average for six consecutive semesters and they must have completed all their courses at Elizabeth City State University. This year's recipients have grade point averages that will ensure they will graduate summa cum laude-- with highest honors. Each will receive a navy blue blazer with the university seal on the pocket of the blazer. The seal also appears on the buttons of the jacket. David Hanson is from Moyock, N.C., majoring in criminal justice; Melissa Sawyer is from South Mills, N.C., majoring in mathematics; Ellen Whelan is a senior from Herford, N.C., majoring in Music.
