Port Discover offers free science fair help sessions in January

Elizabeth City, NC - Port Discover science educators and local scientists will offer free Science Fair Help Sessions at Port Discover. They will assist elementary and middle students with science fair projects that were assigned at area schools. The sessions usually last 20 minutes. Dates and times for the Science Fair Help Sessions follow:

  • January 6 and January 13: 3 p.m.  to 5 p.m.
  • January 8 and January 15: 12 p.m.  to 4 p.m. 

Students are encouraged to call ahead and schedule an appointment.  However, walk- ins are also welcome and will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. Local scientists and science educators include those from Elizabeth City State University and the staff of Port Discover.

Science Fair 101 programs are made possible thanks to a grant from the Ribbon of Hope program of the GlaxoSmithKline Foundation.  Science Fair 101 Help Sessions are free, but donations are appreciated.  Please contact Port Discover at 252-338-6117 or portdiscover@portdiscover.org for an appointment.

Port Discover is located at 611 East Main Street, Elizabeth City, North Carolina.  Port Discover's hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.  Programs can be arranged at other times for special groups.  For more information call 252-338-6117 or visit www.portdiscover.org.
