Port Discover kids focus on scientific methods

Learn the basics of the scientific method with Dr. Maille Lyons, postdoctoral research scientist at Old Dominion University. How do I make a hypothesis? What is the control? Why is it necessary to repeat my experiment? Learn to choose, design, and execute an experiment for a successful science fair project. Programs are set for at 9:30 a.m. and at 11 a.m. on November 8 but advance reservations are necessary. Second Saturday Science is free, thanks to the program sponsor, Gateway Bank. Second Saturday Science programs are geared toward elementary school aged children. Please call 252-338-6117 to register. Port Discover is located at 613 E. Main Street, Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Port Discover's hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. Programs can be arranged at other times for special groups.
