The annual Fall Convocation/Candlelighting Ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. on  September 25, in the auditorium of the Mickey L. Burnim Fine Arts Center. 

The Fall Convocation/Candlelighting Ceremony is an occasion when the university administrators, faculty, staff, and students convene at the beginning of the academic year to renew their commitment to excellence.  During this ceremony, we officially induct the freshmen and transfer students into the university. 

Elizabeth City State's esteemed alumna, Dr. Alma Jenkins, M.D.  Her credentials include graduating Summa Cum Laude from Elizabeth State University and earning her Doctorate in Medicine from Meharry Medical College.  She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Emory University and completed a fellowship in Gastroenterology at the former Bowman Gray Medical Center, now Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
