ECSU Planetarium hosts a series of shows for Halloween
October 24, 2011
Halloween is just a week away, and the Elizabeth City State University Planetarium is adding stars on the big screen to its regular show.
Dr. Sultana Khan, director of the ECSU Planetarium, has set up three days of special Halloween programs to accompany the Night Sky Tour, a presentation about the location of the stars, planets and constellations. On Oct. 28, 29 and 31, the planetarium will feature a Halloween White Light Laser Show with images of ghosts and goblins and popular music.
"These shows are favorites with children," Khan said. "On Monday (Halloween), we scheduled the show early enough for parents to bring the kids before going out Trick or Treating."
For more mature audiences, the sky tour and laser show on Oct. 28 and 29 will be followed by the classic, 1968 horror film, "Night of the Living Dead."
"We wanted to do something different this year to see what kind of audience it will draw," Khan said. She advised that the movie may not be suitable for young viewers and parental discretion is advised.
