The Elizabeth City State University Department of Music will welcome students and
faculty from 11 institutions for the 54th annual Intercollegiate Music Association
(IMA) conference Feb. 6 through 8. Participants are expected from institutions in
Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina. Music students will complete a series of intense
workshops during the two days.
The conference will culminate at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8 with a free concert
in the auditorium of the Mickey L. Burnim Fine Arts Center on the ECSU campus. There,
the students and guest conductors will present one of the year's most memorable performances
among college and university symphonic bands, string orchestras, mixed choirs and

of students from its member institutions. IMA has been unwavering in its promotion
