Chinese Acrobats perform at ECSU

March 19, 2012

Elizabeth City State University's Lyceum Series will welcome Chinese Acrobats at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Friday.

Acrobats of Hebei, China, are a "must see" production that combines Chinese traditions, incredible acrobatics, stunning costumes, Chinese props, and a beautiful musical soundtrack.   Ranging in ages from 19 - 25, and trained from childhood in acrobatics, they are a testament to what the human mind and body can accomplish. They are a rigorously trained, superbly skilled and highly accomplished acrobatic troupe. Performances from South Africa to the South Pacific, from Korea to the United Kingdom, and now the Acrobats of Hebei China introduce their talents to the United States.

Audiences will be amazed by hoop diving featuring flips, jumps and diving through multiple hoops and the dramatic performance of a female contortionist who balances crystal glass while performing her act.  The comical Chinese Lion performance is a highlight of the show, featuring costumed performers in a highly skilled and technical acrobatic performance.  Their performances also include diablo, martial arts, bungee, hand balance, and chair stacking to create a fast moving production for the entire family.
